Token of wisdom from a fallen brother

*Late Dr Myles Munroe; a man of wisdom* was quoted as saying: I was born poor, sleeping on the floor with cockroaches and rats. Today, I own my own jet. Everything I have is paid for. I am debt free; I open

The beautiful garden that can’t feed the hungry

Uganda cannot sit on a green belt and continue to sit on its hands as the terminally arid region starves to death. In his ‘My African Journey’, Winston Churchill wrote “My journey is at an end, the tale is told………concentrate upon Uganda!

Lets do this...raaah

BASKETBALL & THE FUTURE OF UGANDAN SPORTS:

There is no doubt that Basketball in Uganda is the real sport for the youth.

This places it firmly into the the next generation as the 'future of sport' in Uganda!

Some accounts say, Basketball is the fastest growing sport in Uganda. I tend to agree, given the renewed interest in the sport across many towns in Uganda. It is a silent sport that is everywhere, and even in homes usually in the backyard.

There are many reasons; amongst them is the fact that it occupies lesser space than say football, meaning you will most likely have more basketball courts; probably 32 in one football pitch and therefore, more players, more opportunities and more engagement!

This is what I discovered when, after three years of cajoling, my Comrade Brian Rugyendo, finally got me down to join his TROPICAL ROYALS Basketball Club to speak to his ebbullient boys at the Makerere University Business School, MUBS Basketball court their home base. He is yet to build the girls' and kids' wings!

'Tropical' are big but silent. They are focused, dreaming big amidst scarcity of resources, basics like water for training, infrastructure and country support.

They are in the top 6 in 1st Division, training hard ahead of a clash with the TOMAHAWKS of the Uganda People's Defence Forces -UPDF, this Sunday. They want to beat them to the National Basket Ball League.

They know the TOMAHAWKS are coming from the People's Army, and therefore they can MOGADISHU and eventually AMISOM them.

They are also aware of their latest humble Brand Ambassador and Patron, Mrs. Natasha Kainembabazi Karugire and what she's capable of! But this ain't a deterrent. It is an opportunity to put up a great fight and show cause why they deserve the high table!

I have accepted to volunteer my limited time with them as a Brand and Commercial Ambassador too, despite my busy sports schedule at the Uganda Premier League where I volunteer as Board Chairman.

But I am obviously convinced that it is our time to make a contribution to Sports in Uganda, use our clout to lobby for resources, infrastructure and lobby the government more to focus on youth sport, talent development and grow the industry that has the obvious potential to beat the Oil and Gas Industry.

So last night, I told them to keep their eye on the ball. They must not waver. They must not be intimidated by THE TOMAHAWKS this Sunday, at Makerere University. They must keep it professional, be tactical with a strategic objective of getting at the top. They must eat healthy, be disciplined, think about COUNTRY and create a champion attitude!!

Who THEN is joining me on this cause? Let me hear you say AMEN!

If you are convinces, please BRING WITH YOU Water to begin with, this Thursday, and watch them train at the MUBS court, starting at 6pm.

Later one, Follow them to Makerere University on Sunday evening at 4pm to watch them rout the UPDF out of their LUWEERO and MBUYA Defence lines!!

Hello Royals, welcome back! 😊

This Sunday 19.05.2019, we face-off with the only unbeaten team in our Division so far, UPDF Tomahawks, in an encounter that promises all the thrill of Division 1 Basketball! The game will be played at Makerere University Pool Court (near the swimming pool), starting at 4pm Uganda Time.

Let's show up in numbers and support our boys as they look to better their chances of making the playoffs! Let's do this, Tropical Royals!

We invite you to our Team practice session this Thursday 16.05.2019 at MUBS Basketball Court as we prepare for the big game! See you all there! Tell a friend to tell a friend... 😉
